Here are a few of the books I finished recently. I have more coming, but I am inspired to start with these great reads.

And let's be clear - "read" is a relative term. These are books I have either read in the literal sense or listened to on Audible. I'm sharing in the hopes others would have some suggestions of their own.

Cosmos by Carl Sagan. – Audible - Published in 1980 and made into a 13 episode Cosmos TV series, then made again into a TV series hosted by Neil Degrassi, this book is fantastic. I'm saddened that I didn’t read it when I was younger and extremely happy that I finally picked it up. It was both educational and entertaining. It was simple enough for my young children to absorb, yet profound in its lessons.

I will listen to it again.

Empire of the Summer Moon by S.C. Gwynne – Audible- A friend and fellow real estate professional turned me onto this book (Scott Lawrence, Realtor - Home | Facebook) This is a history story of both the Comanches as well as the pioneers who settled Texas and Oklahoma. The book is a page turner from the story-telling to the education it provided. My review doesn't gives it justice, so I will steal the words from Jake Silverstien, Editor, Texas Monthly. "S.G. Gwynne’s Empire of the Summer Moon is many things―a thrilling account of the Texas frontier in the nineteenth century, a vivid description of the Comanche nation, a fascinating portrait of Cynthia Ann Parker and her son, the mysterious, magnificent Quanah―but most of all it is a ripping good read.”

Surely, You’re Joking, Mr. Feyman by Richard P. Feynman – Audible – Richard Feynman is a Nobel Prize-winning physicist and quite the character. This book takes you through his life, from his time in New York growing up through the Manhattan Project and into his time as a teacher. It's filled with stories, anecdotes, and information. At times I felt it a bit monotonous, but his perspective of the times, journey and take on the world make it well worth the time I spent with it on walks during Covid.

Tools of Titans, by Tim Ferris - Audible – I was hesitant to download this particular publication. Like any aspiring entrepreneur who began dabbling in the area of self-employment during the mid-2000’s, I have read his Four Hour Work Week. And though the FHWW had nuggets that were useful, I wasn’t quite sure I wanted another helping. Boy am I glad I took the chance.

This book is one you ABSOLUTELY want to listen to (I believe it may only be available on Audible). It is chock-full of insights pulled from over 200 interviews Ferris has conducted with celebrities (Jamie Foxx, Arnold Schwarzenegger), athletes, Special Ops Commanders, and black-market biochemists. Each are rather short, consumable clips (great for a walk, short drive). The book is broken up into three parts “Health,” “Wealth,” and “Wise”. The insights and entertainment factors of this book surprised me. I'll listen to parts of it again.
